The Mijwan association with Mr. Manish Malhotra goes back to 2010. ‘Mijwan Sonnets in Fabric‘ was unveiled for the first time in 2011. This foundation operates with the dual objective of reviving the timeless the timeless craft of Chikan embroidery as well as empowering local women.
Founded by the late Kaifi Azmi, the NGO empowers women and girls through education and employment generation. Each year during this decade, an average of 300 rural women were trained in Chikankari and earned a living from their work.
Also, thanks to this partnership, each year more than 300 girls from the most disadvantaged communities can go to school.
This year, Mijwan Welfare Society, Manish Malhotra and Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW) are supporting women Chikankari artisans during the difficult pandemic situation.
