Star Speaks for Mijwan

Ranbir Kapoor

India is an idea whose Time has come! 50 percent of India is under the age of 25 years. This our greatest resource base. All over the world Change has been spearheaded by the youth. We, the young people of India need to turn our attention towards rural India where 80 percent of the population lives with a focus on empowering the girlchild.

By associating with Mijwan Welfare Society an NGO founded by the extraordinary poet lyricist Kaifi Azmi I am paying my tribute to a rare poet who practised what he preached

"Pyar ka jashn nai tarha manana hoga Gam kisi dil mein sahi Gam ko mitana hoga"

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra 1"My parents raised me and my brother as equals. I am who I am because of that. Unfortunately in our country this seems to be the exception rather than the norm.

This must change and we the Young can do it both in our personal lives- by negotiating our space in our personal relationships and by supporting organisations that work to empower the girlchild.

So let us join hands to support Mijwan Welfare Society that works to empower the girlchild in rural India.

Prateek Babbar

Prateik to run for the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon

Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil may have been arch-rivals, who were pitted against each other in Arth and who vied for the same arty roles in the ‘80s but the late Smita Patil’s son Prateik is very fond of his “maasi”, Shabana Azmi. The reclusive actor has pledged his support for Shabana’s NGO, Mijwan Welfare Society that works for the empowerment of the girl-child.

An emotional Prateik says, “My mom really believed in causes akin to this. She would be really proud of me. I am absolutely honoured and privileged to be a part of this movement. I will be there whenever Shabana maasi needs me.”

"I have been lucky enough to have made my choices and led the life I have wanted to without any discrimination because of my gender. 60 odd years after Independence, we must work to fulfil every girl’s dream of making her own decisions.

Mijwan Welfare Society is providing the girl child that opportunity through education and employment generation.

I am privileged to join hands with Shabana Azmi for whom I have great respect to support her NGO Mijwan Welfare Society by participating in the Mumbai marathon.

I appeal to you to contribute to Mijwan Welfare Society and help empower the girl child."
